I spent some time taking sunrise and sunset photos while on vacation in Belize recently and got a lot of really nice shots. One shot that I really liked from those sets turned out not to even be a sunset shot!
This shot was taken not long after the sunset as the wind and water calmed down. The kayaker paddled right by as last bits of color faded from the sky. I find this photo contrasts sharply with the bright, colorful sunset photos taken just minutes earlier. The water is calm enough to reflect the features remaining in the sky, but not so still as to make a perfect mirror. I find it to be a peaceful photo capturing a peaceful moment.
This photo was taken with a Canon 50D and a Sigma 17-70mm lens at 17mm/f2.8.
